UNCAL error after presetting the device. Ensure that the preset does not cause an UNCAL.

An UNCAL error on a test and measurement device often indicates that a combination of settings is used to configure the measurement device, that cause it to perform the measurement in an undefined or uncalibrated state. The results of the measurements could thus be out of the specification of the measurement device. It is however also possible that it is still within the specifications.

This UNCAL indication is just indicating that the measurement device is potentially not configured correctly to perform a measurement according its specifications.

The device driver of this measurement device has detected that the UNCAL indication is given directly after the test and measurement device is presetted. Normally a preset should return a measurement device into a defined state within the specifications. If the UNCAL indication is present directly after a preset, that is a serious situation that should be investigated and resolved, as it could indicate that the device is not correctly configured, corrected, justated or calibrated.

Performing a manual preset of the device, using the 'Preset' button on the front panel, should also show the UNCAL indication.

Solution

  • Manually investigate why the UNCAL indication is shown after a preset.
  • Change the settings on the test and measurement device in such a way that presetting of the device doesn't raise the UNCAL indication anymore.
