Timeout expired before operation completed

RadiMation® tried to receive some data from a a measurement device (or another resource) using the VISA layer. But the VISA layer was not able to receive the requested information within a specific timeout period. This can indicate that the specified measurement device has been disconnected suddenly or is too busy to respond. It is also possible that the query that should have been written to the measurement device is not received by the measurement device, or an invalid or unsupported query is used. In that case also no response will be given, and a timeout will occur.

Solution

  • Ensure that the measurement device is still connected to the communication bus
  • Ensure that the measurement device is not busy, and still responsive. Otherwise restart the measurement device
  • Ensure that the cabling is still correctly connected to the measurement device
  • If RS232 is used: Ensure that a correct RS232 cable is being used. Also determine if a RX/TX cross cable (also know as a 'Null modem converter') should be used.
  • If RS232 is used: Are the correct Baudrate, parity and amount of start and stop bits correctly configured?
